Jessie Minassian knows the struggles teenage girls face. She’s an author, a speaker, and a blogger who is passionate about mentoring young women. And she lived through some challenging teen years herself.
At one point, Jessie went through such a difficult time that she plotted to run away from home. Her plan fell apart before she even stepped outside of her house, but it was a turning point in her life. She decided that if she was going to stay, she ought to “stay well” and make the most of her time with her family. That was the beginning of learning to get outside of herself and “see” her family.
Like Jessie, a lot of teen girls are “blind” to their relationships with their parents and siblings. They’re struggling to figure out who they are in the midst of social pressures, hormone-induced mood swings, and family dynamics. All of which can fan the flames of conflict.
Even girls who are committed to their faith can have a hard time acting respectfully from time to time. Christ-like selflessness, patience, and unconditional love are easy with people with whom you’re only casually connected. But with people who live under one roof, emotions can be volatile.
Jessie is with us on our broadcast to help parents and teen girls better navigate their conflicts within the context of a loving home. She offers practical ideas for having more constructive conversations and for managing these years, not perfectly, but more effectively.
